A challenger for John Murtha

William T. Russell has announced he will seek the Republican nomination to run against Rep. John Murtha, arguably the worst member of Congress.

Russell is the only Republican candidate on the April 22 primary ballot and no Democrats have filed to challenge Murtha, so the contest for Pennsylvania's 12th Congressional District will be in November.

The 75-year-old Murtha has held the 12th District seat since 1974.

Murtha's fanatical desire to surrender to the terrorists in Iraq is well documented. Murtha has also been crowned "King of Pork" by several nonpartisan watchdog groups. Murtha is consistently ranked as the worst offender in Congress for wasting taxpayer dollars.

Russell is a small business owner and retired lieutenant colonel in the United States Army Reserve.
