'Thanks to the Press in Pennsylvania'

A 'Thank You' note below (and a call for more action) from the League of Women Voters for everyone who is pushing for redistricting reform in Pennsylvania:

The League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania extends a very sincere thanks to the press for the excellent and ongoing coverage of our attempts to have redistricting form passed in the House and the Senate. The battle is certainly not over and we are nearly out of time. As you are aware, the Senate State Government yesterday voted out SB 346 (Senator Lisa Boscola) for a vote on the Senate floor. While the bill is not as strong as it could be, the League supports moving the bill ahead with possible strengthening amendments in the Senate.

Right now, Senate leadership is not inclined to schedule the bill for a vote and needs everyone to encourage them to do so. Some feel the alignment of districts is just fine and others see the problem. We need all of you to continue the pressure, because legislators who have been standing in the way of redistricting reform are really feeling the sting of media pressure from your articles day after day to get them to move on this critical issue. Please continue our fight with your strong articles and editorials — it may well be the only thing that will work.
