If the current trend continues, just about every Democratic Party official or friend of Commissioners Jim Matthews and Joe Hoeffel could be on the county payroll within four years.
Another week, another patronage job awarded by the Montgomery County commissioners.
This time, Thomas Schneider, the husband of Montgomery County Commissioner Chairman James R. Matthews' administrative assistant, has been hired as the county's new fleet manager.
No one is saying Schneider isn't qualified to do the job, but why is it that everybody hired under the Jim Matthews-Joe Hoeffel regime is related to somebody connected with Matthews or Hoeffel or has campaigned for them or contributed money to their political campaigns?
Matthews and Hoeffel are giving political cronyism a bad name.
As usual, Republican Commissioner Bruce Castor voted against the hiring.
