It's OK to insult Christianity

sac·ri·le·gious: Grossly irreverent toward what is or is held to be sacred.
-- American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition

This is the front cover of the December edition of Playboy Magazine Mexico. The bawdry image of the Virgin Mary is the definition of sacrilegious.

Would anyone insult Islam and not suffer consequences? Would anyone insult Judaism and get away with it?

Why is it acceptable to insult Christianity? Especially on the eve of Christmas.

Huh?

The cover is not tawdry (considering the definition of the word "bawdry" I believe you used it incorrectly) or and nowhere do I see the phrase "virgin Mary"

Are you wigging out because of the "We love you, Maria" thing? Oh dear - the model's name is Maria.

Cripes - my sister's name is Maria - does that make HER sacrilegious?

I think the previous reader missed the point. As a Christian, I am offended by the magazine. And you are correct, Tony, that other religions would not tolerate this kind of ridicule. Remember what happened when newspapers ran cartoons depicting the Muslim prophet?

I'm a Cristian too - I found nothing objectionable - in fact, I am hard pressed to see any sort of religious connection.

Y'all need to lighten up a bit.

Tony,

If that's sacrilegious, more please!

But you're right. It's gutless not to have her jumping out of burka.
